April Reoch's body was discovered on Christmas Day. It had been stuffed into a bag and put out with the garbage.
Reoch was the inspiration for the National Film Board documentary "Through a Blue Lens". It was made by police officers and focused on the lives of six drug addicts.

Vancouver police have arranged for an official piper, a ceremonial parade and a church service Monday afternoon.
Const. Al Arsenault says Reoch was the inspiration for the documentary and she did society a great service.
"And then she was unceremoniously stuffed into a bag and treated with so much disrespect, we felt we could give her a more fitting send-off than the one received upon death," he says.
The investigation into her death is continuing.
